Jasper is a beautiful and friendly orange tabby cat who lived with a big family in his San Mateo neighborhood for many years, but when they moved, they just put him out and left him all alone with no food, water, or shelter during a major heatwave. To make matters even worse, the new owners apparently do not like cats and they covered up his access to go under the house which used to be one of his places (even though they hadn’t even moved in yet).
Poor Jasper was so confused and sad, he was moaning, crying, and pacing around his old driveway until a kind neighbor noticed his distress and posted on NextDoor. Another neighbor living just down the street responded and also contacted The Lost Cats and we worked with the neighbors and started the process of saving Jasper.
It took several weeks to earn Jasper‘s trust until he could be trapped and placed in a foster home. His foster mom really wanted to keep him, but Jasper made it clear he wanted to be the only cat in the house. The Lost Cats found him a perfect home with a dog that Jasper loves. He is now mostly an indoor kitty but his new people like him to go outside to scare away the rats which Jasper does a good job of. When you visit Jasper in his new home, it is clear how happy he is. He is bonded to his dad (Mike) and will follow him to every room in the house.. A very happy ending, and beginning, for Jasper.

Jasper, grateful for his second chance

Jasper is now with his permanent caregiver, Mike.
